Lokotsav 2024 (National Event)

Gaondongrim-Kotigao, Canacona 

Venue: Adarshgram, Amonem, Poinguinim, Canacona – Goa. 

“ADARSH YUVA SANGH” a Non-Government Organization working for the upliftment and development of the Scheduled Tribes and other weaker sections of Canacona Taluka is organising annual “LOKOTSAV” Festival continuously since last 24 years to promote the village Culture, folk dance music and agriculture products, including traditional medicines and naturally available herbs. The Festival displays the rich local cuisine and Natural foods available in the region. The Festival is a major attraction to the tourist and a source for enhancement of the village life besides being an important means of preservation and protection of the village culture. 

The Festival was organized at a National Level on 6th to 8th December, 2024, This year Adarsh Yuva Sangh Welcomed participation from states like Gujrat, Assam, Haryana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh & Karnataka. Around 1000 delegates visited the festival along with distinguished Central and State Ministers. The festival offered variety of programes ranging from seminars, workshops display of art music, folk dances, Natural foods, cuisine and medicinal plant products coming over from different participating states. The festival witnessed footfall of around 80 to 90 thousand people every day with the event spreading over 3 days. Certainly, the major objectives of the Festival and the economic aspects linked with livelihood enhancement is achieved by this Festival. 

Inauguration of “LOKOTSAV 24” 

On 06th December 2024 Day 1 of “LOKOTSAV 24” Goa State Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly Shri Ramesh Tawadkar, South Goa ZP President Sanjana Velip, CMC Chairperson Sara Desai, Poinguinim ZP Shobana Velip, Cola ZP Shanu Velip, V.P. Poinguinim Sarpanch Savita Tawadkar, Loliem Sarpanch Nisha Chari, Shristhal Sarpanch Sejal Gaonkar, Khotigao Sarpanch Vrinda Velip, Shree Balram Education Society’s Chairman Ankush Gaonkar, Secretary of Shree Balram Education Society Mr. Janu Tawadkar, Agriculture Director Sandip Naik Desai, Adarsh Yuva Sangh Secretary Ashok Gaonkar and Dy. Collector of Canacona Shri Madhu Narvekar were present for the 24th Lokotsav at Adarsh Gram, Amonem, Poinguinim, Canacona organized by Adarsh Yuva Sangh and Shree Balram Education Society in association with Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Govt. of India & Directorate of Art and Culture Government of Goa.

Resources existing and Participation in the Lokotsav Festival:
