Rediscovering the Tribal Cuisine of Goa-Action Research Proposal in two Districts of Goa 

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs, New Delhi has approved the project titled “Rediscovering Tribal Cuisine of Goa-Action Research Proposal in two Districts of Goa” for the State of Goa in the year 2020-21. The said project was entrusted to Government College of Art, Science & Commerce, Quepem-Goa for implementation.

“The goal of the study is to identify, compile and promote indigenous tribal cuisines and associated knowledge in an around the State of Goa. The study envisages to document the traditional recipes of the tribal’s and publish the State Recipe Handbook. The key outcome of the study would be the publication of Goa State Tribal Recipe Handbook and popularization of Tribal Food Recipes of Goa across the Country.”

The objectives of the project are as follows:

• To identify unique food recipes from the tribal communities from North and South Goa.
• To catalogue and publish the State Recipe Handbook of the tribal communities from North and South Goa.
• To find the geographical location and derive knowledge from the tribal people of Goa and to form a successful food-based intervention that improves the health and well-being of the population at large.
• To popularize the tribal food recipes via generally used social media to acknowledge the tribal knowledge
